James 1:26 If anyone considers himself religious and yet does not keep a tight rein on his tongue, he deceives himself and his religion is worthless. The word teaches that we must be disciplined in what we say if we are to receive the blessings promised in the word of God. James 3:5-10 Likewise the tongue is a small part of the body, but it makes great boasts. Consider what a great forest is set on fire by a small spark. 6 The tongue also is a fire, a world of evil among the parts of the body. It corrupts the whole person, sets the whole course of his life on fire, and is itself set on fire by hell. 7 All kinds of animals, birds, reptiles and creatures of the sea are being tamed and have been tamed by man, 8 but no man can tame the tongue. It is a restless evil, full of deadly poison. 9 With the tongue we praise our Lord and Father, and with it we curse men, who have been made in God's likeness. 10 Out of the same mouth come praise and cursing. My brothers, this should not be. The Holy Word of God repeatedly teaches that we must be mindful of what we say and the power of the spoken word. Proverbs 18 says the tongue has the power of life and death, and those who live it will eat its fruit. With this power in mind we must discipline our words as we interact with one another. We must make an effort to speak life into our own lives and life into the lives of others. In the words of my Lord and Savior Jesus The Christ , "let those that have ears let them hear." Into the lives of all that read this I speak and seek Eternal Blessings in the matchless name of Jesus. Yours In Service to the King of Kings Robert J. Ambrose Increase your Faith Bible Study. |
